Education

Dr. Thorne joined Denali Therapeutics in 2018 as a Denali Fellow after over 10 years on the faculty at New York University School of Medicine and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was most recently an Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Sciences, a faculty member of the Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, and a Trainer in the Neuroscience, Cellular and Molecular Pathology, and Clinical Neuroengineering Training Programs. In 2019, Dr. Thorne became an adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Minnesota. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington and his PhD in Pharmaceutics (collateral – neuroscience) from the University of Minnesota, working with Bill Frey. He next spent eight years in the Department of Physiology & Neuroscience at New York University School of Medicine, first as a postdoctoral fellow with Charles Nicholson and later as an Instructor.
