Cognitive impairment is a common and debilitating problem in PD. The findings of this interesting study are quite robust, in line with the value of the component risk factors that comprise the cognitive risk score. Approaches such as this should prove useful for enrichment of PD patients with high risk of cognitive decline for clinical studies, and ultimately may have value in the clinic. Future inclusion of additional known risk factors should further improve predictive value earlier in the course of disease.
