Involvement of neuronal anion exchange proteins in cell death in Alzheimer's disease.
Gerontology. 1997;43(1-2):67-78.

This is a review article that discusses the potential role of anion exchange proteins in AD. The main value of the article is that it reviews a mechanism that is potentially relevant to AD but has not received much attention. Although the abstract does not mention it, the chloride/bicarbonate exchanger is potentially of considerable importance for excitotoxicity in that malfunction of this exchanger could work in concert with energy disturbances to promote excitotoxic neuronal degeneration
