The data presented here are consistent with many previous studies establishing the central role of synapses in congnitive impairment in AD. It is unfortunate that the limit of 7 proteins examined here did not allow the authors to distinguish differential effects of AD on pre and post synaptic structures and on synaptic vesicle recycling (e.g. Yao et al., Neurobiol. of Disease, 2003)
