Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a postdoctoral researcher at the Canadian Concussion Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The postdoctoral researcher will be supervised by Carmela Tartaglia. The successful applicant will have a strong multimodal MR imaging background that can be combined with behavioral/psychological, biofluid and genetics data. Their work will focus on furthering understanding of the effect of repetitive head injury in former professional athletes at risk of neurodegenerative disease. The fellow will further have the opportunity to develop other projects depending on their skills, interests, and the interaction with other lab members. The fellowship will start in the fall/winter of 2025 and offers ample opportunity for collaborations both within the institute and with other researchers in Toronto. Key responsibilities:

  • Experimental design, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation 
  • Magnetic resonance image analysis (experience with PET is an asset) 
  • Data analysis using advanced, multivariate statistical tools 
  • Dissemination of research results (e.g., publications, conferences, public outreach) 

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or similar 
  • Advanced quantitative and computer skills, including the ability to use Matlab, Python, or any other programming language that enables experiment design and data analysis 
  • Excellent knowledge of neuroimaging software: FSL, FreeSurfer, SPM, etc.
  • Working knowledge of SuStaIn is an asset
  • Experience with MRI data collection and analysis 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
