Parkinson's Disease vs Alzheimer's Disease: NFL (CSF)
Meta-analysis of five eligible studies showed that the levels of c in the cerebrospinal fluid of people with Parkinson's disease were approximately 60 percent those of people with Alzheimer's disease (effect size = 0.612, p = 0.003). For comparison, our meta-analysis of 29 comparisons showed that the level of NFL in controls was half that of AD patients. Published meta-analyses comparing Parkinson's patients to control subjects did not find a difference between groups (Bridel et al., 2019; Wang et al., 2017).
