Vascular Dementia vs Alzheimer's Disease: Aβ40 (CSF)
Aβ40 levels in cerebrospinal fluid were somewhat lower in people with vascular dementia than in individuals with Alzheimer’s disease (effect size = 0.85, p = 0.003). For comparison, the level of Aβ40 in the cerebrospinal fluid was about 10 percent lower in Alzheimer’s disease patients than in control subjects, a difference of uncertain biological significance.
