Description

The University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position with the Wisconsin Registry for Alzheimer’s Prevention (WRAP). This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical neuropsychologist or physician specializing in cognitive disorders to assume a predominant research and leadership role in a groundbreaking longitudinal study focused on Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related neurodegenerative diseases.

The opportunity:

  • Cutting-edge research into Alzheimer’s disease and neurodegenerative disorders.
  • Lead and shape significant research initiatives within WRAP and ADRC.
  • A community that values and promotes diversity and inclusion, with a strong encouragement for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) candidates to apply.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes:

  • Research Leadership: Implement and lead a robust research program that leverages the existing infrastructure of WRAP and the Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC).
  • Innovative Study Design: Address the crucial knowledge gaps in identifying major neurodegenerative diseases and their antecedent states, which may cause cognitive decline either independently or in combination with AD.
  • Secondary Prevention Science: Expand the scope of WRAP in secondary prevention research for AD and related neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on generalizable outcomes for diverse communities.
  • Diverse Representation: Commit to fostering diversity and inclusion in research, ensuring broad applicability and impact of research findings.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Established Researcher: Demonstrated research productivity in longitudinal observational or prevention studies, particularly in preclinical Alzheimer’s disease or other neurodegenerative diseases of aging.
  • Diverse Representation: Dedication to achieving generalizable research outcomes through inclusive representation in study populations.
  • Innovative Thinker: Motivated to bridge the gap in current knowledge about neurodegenerative diseases beyond AD, and to explore their asynchronous onset and progression rates.
