Award: This initiative relates to the following notices of funding opportunities (NOFOs): PAR-22-093 - Research on Current Topics in Alzheimer's Disease and Its Related Dementias (R01 Clinical Trial Optional); PAR-22-094 - Research on Current Topics in Alzheimer's Disease and Its Related Dementias (R21 Clinical Trial Optional).

Due Date: This notice applies to due dates on or after November 12, 2024 and subsequent receipt dates through December 31, 2027.

McKnight Scholar Awards

Sponsor: The McKnight Endowment Fund for Neuroscience

Award: Applicants for the McKnight Scholar Awards must be independent investigators at not-for-profit research institutions in the United States and must hold a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor and must have served at that rank for less than five years at the application deadline. Each Scholar will receive $75,000 annually in 2025, 2026, and 2027. Funds may be used in any way that will facilitate development of the Scholar’s research program, but not for indirect costs.

Due Date: January 13, 2025 at 5 PM Central Time.

2025 Tauopathy Challenge Workshop

Sponsor: The Rainwater Charitable Foundation

Award: Workshop participants will be selected through a competitive Letter of Intent process. Up to 12 participants will be selected to attend the workshop and each attendee will receive a $10,000 grant to support their laboratory research. Travel and lodging expenses will also be covered. Following the meeting, workshop attendees can apply for research grants providing up to $500,000 over two years; up to four awards will be funded, pending budget availability.

Due Date: Letter of Intent Deadline: August 15, 2024.

Institutional Training Programs to Advance Translational Research on Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and AD-Related Dementias (ADRD) (T32 Clinical Trial Not Allowed) (PAR-24-121)

Sponsor: National Institute on Aging

Award: NIA intends to fund an estimate of 3-5 awards, corresponding to a total of $2.7 million, each year for fiscal years 2025, 2026, and 2027. Application budgets are not limited, but need to reflect the actual needs of the proposed project.

BRAIN Initiative: Research on the Ethical Implications of Advancements in Neurotechnology and Brain Science (R01 Clinical Trial Optional) (RFA-MH-25-170)

Sponsor: National Institutes of Health

Award: NIH BRAIN and partner components intend to commit an estimated total of $3M in fiscal years 2025, 2026, 2027 to fund up to 8 new awards, each year, contingent upon annual appropriations. Application budgets are limited to $300,000 in direct costs in any project year.

BRAIN Initiative: Research on the Ethical Implications of Advancements in Neurotechnology and Brain Science (R21 Clinical Trial Optional) (RFA-MH-25-171)

Sponsor: National Institutes of Health

Award: NIH BRAIN and partner components intend to commit an estimated total of $2M in fiscal years 2025, 2026, 2027 to fund up to 8 new awards each year for this RFA, contingent upon annual appropriations. The combined budget for direct costs for the two-year project period may not exceed $275,000. No more than $200,000 may be requested in any single year.
