Still Alice Released to theaters in January of 2015, the movie “Still Alice” tells the story of 50 year-old Alice Howland, a college professor who is diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Based on the book of the same name by Lisa Genova (see Alzforum Interview), the movie follows Alice’s slide into dementia, from her first suspicions that something is amiss to the late stages of her disease. Along the way, the film portrays Alice’s changing relationships with her husband and three children, as well as her determined yet ultimately fruitless attempts to maintain her connection with the world. Alice is played by Julianne Moore, who has received numerous acting awards for the role, including the 2015 Golden Globes’ Best Actress in a Motion Picture-Drama (see Jan 2015 news).
