This day-long conference is designed: (1) To discuss the important role of primary care clinicians in diagnosing and treating dementing disorders; (2) to review current assessment strategies and criteria for diagnosing common dementing disorders of aging (i.e., Alzheimer’s disease dementia with Lewy bodies, frontotemporal dementia, and vascular dementia); (3) to review current and emerging treatment strategies for common dementing disorders; (4) to highlight the roles that neuroimaging and genetic research play in our growing understanding of dementing disorders, their pathophysiology, and prospects for preclinical detection in years to come.
