Progressive Supranuclear Palsy vs Alzheimer's Disease: Aβ42 (Plasma and Serum)
Meta-analysis of two studies showed that levels of Aβ42 in plasma were slighlty higher in people with progressive supranuclear palsy than people with Alzheimer's disease (effect size = 1.16). However, the p value was marginal (0.019), with only two eligible studies and a small number of subjects contributing to the meta-analysis. For comparison, levels of Aβ42 in blood—plasma or serum—did not differ between individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and controls.
