Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus vs Alzheimer's Disease: sAPPα (CSF)
Meta-analysis showed that the level of sAPPα in the cerebrospinal fluid of people with normal pressure hydrocephalus is about half that of people with Alzheimer's disease (effect size = 0.439, p <0.0001). Although only three eligible studies contributed to this analysis, and the number of subjects was relatively small, the results were consistent across studies. For comparison, levels of sAPPα in CSF are similar in control subjects and AD patients.
