Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus vs Alzheimer's Disease: Aβ40 (CSF)
Meta-analysis of four studies did not show a difference in levels of cerebrospinal fluid Aβ40 between people with normal pressure hydrocephalus and individuals with Alzheimer’s disease (effect size = 0.8, p = 0.24). For comparison, the level of CSF Aβ40 was about 10 percent lower in AD patients than control subjects, a difference of uncertain biological significance.
