Dementia with Lewy Bodies vs Alzheimer's Disease: neurogranin (CSF)
The levels of neurogranin in the cerebrospinal fluid of people with dementia with Lewy bodies appeared to be approximately 60 percent those of people with Alzheimer's disease (effect size = 0.58, p = 0.0008). Although only four studies contributed to the analysis and the total number of people with DLB was relatively small, the finding of less neurogranin in DLB was consistent across the handful of available studies. For comparison, CSF neruogranin in control subjects is also approximately 60 percent that of people with AD.
