The Synaptic Transmission seminar offers a unique opportunity to present and exchange new data and cutting edge ideas. The primary aims are to: (1) provide a two-day forum for like-minded graduate students, postdocs, and other scientists to present cutting-edge research findings during informal talks, scientific discussion sessions, and poster presentations; (2) launch long-term collaborations that will ultimately facilitate how the field understands basic synaptic function; (3) allow motivated young investigators to share and learn information that may augment their own and their colleagues' research projects; (4) provide a low-pressure environment in which to exchange ideas and promote intellectual and social dialogue with senior attendees at the seminar and associated conference. 

The meeting will feature approximately 10 talks and two poster sessions. All attendees are expected to actively participate in the seminar by giving an oral presentation or presenting a poster. Therefore, all applications must include an abstract. The Chairs will select speakers from abstracts submitted by May 2, 2014. Those applicants who are not chosen for talks and those who apply after the deadline to be considered for an oral presentation will be expected to present a poster. In order to participate, you must submit an application by July 5, 2014.
