The general topic of the conference is inhibitory control of circuits in the central nervous system. Sessions will be devoted to the structure and function of ion channels gated by the inhibitory neurotransmitters GABA and glycine, the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the numerous subsets of neurons in the brain containing these inhibitory transmitters, the function and regulation of inhibitory synapses, and the role these specific interneurons play in regulating and synchronizing the activity of defined neuronal networks.
