This is a very brave paper.

This is an interesting paper suggesting that the investigated UBQLN1 variants do not make a large contribution to AD risk/onset-age variation in the samples investigated here. It would be very helpful if the authors would agree to provide their summary genotype counts, which would allow us to integrate the findings of this study with data published in previous papers, via meta-analysis. Inclusion of large association studies like the one by Slifer et al. is essential in avoiding bias when assessing the overall candidacy of UBQLN1 as an AD risk factor. Once these data are provided by the authors, the meta-analyses for this gene will be updated and the results posted on Alzforum's AlzGene database.
