Results presented by Barten et al. at the Alzheimer's and Related Disorders meeting in Philadelphia and published in J Pharmacol Exp Ther in September show that potent γ-secretase inhibitors can differentially inhibit Notch and APP cleavage. See Barten et al. As these inhibitors are brain-penetrant and have been shown to reduce Aβ in three different animal models, perhaps this means a drug may be at hand?
