	I recommend this paper Elegant study although I still wonder why it is so hard to kill neurons in rodent brain. It just seems curious to me that it takes that much effort to document neuronal loss. Also, when the amyloid deposits are that aggregated, is it "toxicity" or just mechanical, i.e. a big blob sitting in the middle of the brain eventually kills the nearby neurons. REAGENTS/MATERIAL:

Transgenic mouse line Tg2576 (mutant APPSw) and mouse line 6.2 [mutant human PS1(M146L)] were crossed. The resulting double trangenic mice (PSAPP) were studied. Immunohistochemistry on mouse brain coronal sections were stained with polyclonal anti-amyloid-beta R1282 (1:200 gift of D. Selkoe, Boston) and monoclonal anti-Neu-N 1:500 (Chemicon). Detection was with secondary antibodies and either Cy3 or Cy5 and visualized with Bio-Rad's confocal microscope.
