REAGENTS/MATERIAL:

Study of APP23 transgenic mice at 25 months, 15 months and 5-7 months old. Age matched wild-type controls included.

Animals monitored with MRI and fMRI after tail injections of contrasting dyes acetazolamide (Diamox, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals) and bicuculline (Sigma-Aldrich).

regions of interest were the cortical gray matter and thalamic nuclei.

MRI performed with Biospec 47/15 and a Pharmascan 70/16 system (Bruker).

Data analysis software was developed in the lab (Biomap version 3.1). Comparisons analyzed by the two-tailed t test for independent samples. Multiple comparisons analyzed by ANOVA.
