The British science journal Nature announced that it is becoming a "full-fledged" electronic journal beginning with this week's issue. It joins, somewhat belatedly, the other major journals such as Science, Cell and the Journal of Neuroscience, which have had full-text versions on-line for several years. Personal subscribers to Nature will be able to access the full contents online, as well as additional data, links to major databases and other enhancements. Issues dating back to June 1997 will be fully accessible through a searchable archive. The online Nature will also offer special essays, reports, historical perspectives, debates and other editorial content not available elsewhere.—June Kinoshita
