A position for fesearch specialist in neurosciences is available at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center/University of Illinois at Chicago for investigating the effects of candidate therapies in the models of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD).
The position requires proven expertise and knowledge in conducting behavioral, neuropathological, and neurochemical analysis in mouse brain. Expertise in inducing controlled cortical impact brain injury, conducting Morris water maze and Y maze behavioral testing, frozen and paraffin brain-tissue sectioning, and immunocytochemistry are musts. Other duties include general laboratory management, ability to work independently, to design, plan, perform, and troubleshoot the experiments, to analyze results, and prepare an organized report. Additional preferred skills include multitasking abilities, basic computing, excellent communication, and organizational ability.
Minimum requirements: Master's or Ph.D degree in life sciences or related field with at least three years of laboratory work experience and laboratory management experience.
