The Center for Translational Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding scientist for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level whose research programs investigates mechanisms relevant to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative conditions such as but not limited to Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
Ideal candidates will have expertise in one or more of the following areas:
1) molecular biology using animal models and cell culture systems;
2) histopathology and biochemical analysis of human and non-human brain tissue;
Applicants should have a proven track record of consistent publications and independent funding in these areas. This position will complement and synergize with ongoing basic and clinical research programs in the departments of pharmacology and medicine. The recently established Center for Translational Medicine occupies space on the ninth floor (more than 25,000 square feet of open lab space) of the three-year old Medical Education and Research Building. The Center currently has multi-disciplinary research interests in gene therapy, mitochondrial pathogenesis, cell signaling, and neurodegeneration, with core units encompassing gene therapy, viral vectors, and animal surgery/physiology. Interested candidates should have an M.D., Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, and a strong academic record in neurobiology or neuroscience with an emphasis on neurodegenerative diseases. A competitive package will be offered based on qualifications.
