Poll Question: Compared to cancer, why do so few people with AD participate in drug trials?
I truly do not know the answer to this question. One must look at where the trials are being performed, and how many people are being solicited as possible candidates. Of patients who meet the eligibility criteria, what percent give consent? If a loved one of mine was suffering from AD, I would spare no effort to find the best hope for treatment, whether it be clinical trial or approved therapeutic.
In my case at age 56 as a male, I have type II diabetes and an abnormal MRI showing a void from an early developmental insult. The combination of these two conditions has excluded me from the trials that I would have really liked to participate in.
